Welcome to the Website of the Salford Technical and Engineering Association (STEA)

 
The Salford Technical and Engineering Association was inaugurated in the year 1891. For over 90 years it presented public lectures within the City of Salford. For its services to the City, the association has received many marks of esteem from Civic and other bodies. Among the services rendered, perhaps its greatest was its involvement in the inauguration of the Royal Technical College in 1895, which was granted the Royal Charter in 1967, to become the University of Salford.
